Once upon a time, a blog was started at AOL Journals. The scales fell from the eyes of The Creator and it was moved to Wordpress. Then Journals tanked and all old posts were moved here for safekeeping.

too much pressure

And while I have you...My 40th birthday is the 31st of this month.  I have no plans.  The pressure...it's like New Year's Eve x40.  Tell me, oh wise ones.

(%$&*#@!) - I turn the big "4-0" on Monday and also have NOTHING planned.     I suddenly feel sick over not being 30-something anymore.

So, no advice here...  I'll check back to glom off any words of wisdom anyone shares.    ~ Christine

Tash and I were planning on having a double party this year when we turned 30.  We were going to wear gowns and tiaras.  It was going to be the Sweet 16 or Quinceañera that neither of us had... but with champaign.  But then it was expensive and complicated to plan, so we didn't do it.  You could totally steal that.  It'd be your Cuarentañera.

Ritu and I each turned 40 in the past year and we celebrated with weekends away from our children.  That was definitely a good choice.  Don't let it be a pressure-filled thing.  On your actual birthday, do whatever the hell you want.  If it were me, I would eat out for all three meals while trolling for attention and adoration by constantly mentioning, "It's my birthday!"   I will say that 40 is actually a pretty good age to be.  And also, that your birthday is on my anniversary.
